Sean Bishop
Sean Bishop, Director Bishop’s Instruments and Bows has worked with all London’s finest orchestras including English Chamber Orchestra, The Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. During his musical life he has been fascinated with string instruments.
Born and raised in Australia he lived close to two violin makers and it was this daily contact that influenced him to study all aspects of violins and bows as well as some violin making of his own. He has a particular interest in early 20th Century violin makers (Bisiach, Degani, Pedrazzini) as well as 20th Century French and English bowmakers (W. E. Hill & Sons, Sartory, Vigneron, Ouchard).
Tone and quality are both important in musical instruments. As a former professional player his instruments are selected not only for their quality of make but also for their tone as he is able to play all his instruments to make sure they are up to the exact standard required by today’s students, amateurs and professionals.
