Simon Lane

WFISC Official Pianist

Simon Lane has gained recognition for his compelling and sensitive performances, and has collaborated with many of the world’s most exciting musicians including Danielle de Niese, Iestyn Davies, Allan Clayton, Guy Johnston and Jack Liebeck. His recent CD release with cellist Philip Higham was selected as Strad Magazine‘s ‘CD of the month’, and Gramophone Magazine stated that “What is most striking about this performance is that, thanks to the brilliance of Simon Lane at the piano, the virtuosity of the piano-writing is thrillingly brought out”.

Alongside frequent performances in London’s Wigmore Hall, Simon has appeared in venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie and Leipzig’s Alte Handelsbörse, and more widely across Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Italy, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Croatia, Slovenia and North America. Recent festival engagements include the Bachfest Leipzig, La Festival de Musique de Menton, the Dubrovnik and Ljubljana Summer Festivals, and the Leeds Lieder, Ryedale and Lichfield Festivals in the UK.

Among other early influences on his career, Simon is indebted to the late Mark Ray, to whom he owes a large share of his love of music.
