School Hall, Eton College
Eton College's School Hall was built in 1908 as a memorial to the 129 Etonians who died in the Boer War. The building was constructed from red brick with Portland stone dressings, and is characterized by its large barrel-vaulted internal space and imposing entrance.
In 2019 it became evident that the hall needed repair and Hopkins Architects, who also developed Eton’s new sports facilities, drew up some plans. The design new design combines brilliant acoustics, comfortable raked seating for 500 people, plentiful bathroom facilities and excellent AV for a new multi-purpose School Hall.
The Festival continues to use School Hall for concerts and events, particularly the annual concert by the Eton Music Scholars’ and Exhibitioners: The Eton Boys’ Concert.
