The Windsor Festival International String Competition is set to return in September 2026 for its 10th anniversary edition. The outline schedule is as follows:
31st July 2026, 23:59 BST - Closing date for Applications
mid-August 2026 - Announcement of WFISC 2026 Semi-finalists
25-26th September 2026 - Semi-finalists arrive in Windsor UK
29-30th September 2026 - WFISC 2026 Semi-finals
2nd October 2026 - WFISC 2026 Final
Full application details for WFISC 2026 will be announced in late May 2026.



WFISC Laureates' News
WFISC Winner to give Roxanna Panufnik World Premiere
Jonathan Swensen, WFISC Winner 2019, will give the world premiere of a new cello concerto by Roxanna Panufnik. Commissioned by WFISC Partner Orchestra Orpheus Sinfonia in collaboration with WFISC, this cello concerto will be a significant new addition to the repertoire. The world premiere performance is on 25th June 2026 at St George's Hanover Square.
WFISC Winner Concerto Soloist at Newbury
Jonathan Swensen, WFISC Winner 2019, was invited to perform the Elgar Cello Concerto in Newbury Spring Festival 2026. He gave a breathtaking performance on 10th May, with the Berkshire Youth Symphony Orchestra - an incredibly inspiring occasion.
WFISC Prize Winners awarded 2026 Avery Fisher Career Grants
Nathan Meltzer, WFISC Winner 2017 and Leland Ko, WFISC Third Prize 2024, were both awarded Avery Fisher Career Grants. Part of the Avery Fisher Artist Program at Lincoln Center, these grants created to support the careers of exceptional instrumentalists and chamber groups in the U.S. Jonathan Swensen, WFISC Winner 2019, was a recipient in 2022.
